The Friends of Sutter’s Fort is a nonprofit 501 c 3 organization dedicated to the enhancement, preservation and protection of Sutter’s Fort State Historic Park, and educational and interpretive programs at the park. We are a Cooperating Association for California State Parks since 2006, although the history of our organization can be traced back to 1979.

Environmental Living Program (ELP)

Friends of Sutter's Fort is proud to sponsor the Environmental Living Program (ELP) at Sutter’s Fort State Historic Park. This popular program allows students to spend 24 hours (including overnight!) at Sutter’s Fort. While here, they portray 1840’s characters and partake in period activities, such as carpentry, baking and candle-making.

The ELP program is available to public, private and home school groups. However, the students participating are required to be primarily elementary school students.  The Environmental Living Program is also limited to a maximum of 100 student participants.

If you are interested in bringing a group of middle or high school students, please look into our Environmental Studies Program (ESP).

ELP dates for June 2018 are still open! For more information, such as the application process, cost and available dates, please contact the ELP Coordinator at Sutter's Fort State Historic Park, This email address is being protected from spambots.
